National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week

Join others in bringing Awareness to Alcohol and Drug Use and Addiction

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week will be held from January 22-27, 2019.  The week includes a number of events dedicated to providing facts about alcohol and drugs and shattering myths.  While the week is geared towards teenagers, anyone can get involved.

National Drugs and Alcohol Chat Day will be held on January 24, 2019.  High school students from around the country will be able to chat with NIDA scientists.  They can ask questions about drugs and alcohol without judgment or consequence.

Events held throughout the week are designed to help people understand what causes addiction, answer questions about drug effects and discuss how to get help.  The National Institute on Drug Abuse in conjunction with the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism provide activity ideas and toolkits for those who register early.   Every state hosts events throughout the week.  Events range in topic from discussing drug-free living to wellness courts, engaging youth and parent help.  To find out more about events being held in your area visit the National Institute on Drug Abuse for Teachers Events Map.

Free lesson plans and materials can be ordered online.  Booklets and other educational materials such as drug charts, information on the science of addiction and shattering drug myths are available for download directly from the NIDA.
